Mayweather v. Pacquiao: A Battle Of Principles
Sometime in the not too distant past, something happened that got those of us not in the least invested in boxing curious. There was to be a match of epic proportions between a Mayweather and a Pacquiao. In the weeks and days leading up to the event there were two general notions of the two. Mayweather dodges and plays a defensive game. Paquiao is stylistic, very well composed.
If you saw the boxing match or just heard about it, then you knownit went a little like this.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's the battle of gladiators! Standing in one corner, we have the reigning champion, this brother knows how to take a punch, weighing philosphical pounds and standing at six psychological feet tall it's -Self Control!!
And in the other corner, it's a newbie whose actually been around for quite some time. Some call him a chicken the way he cops out on temptations . But this fella knows how to dodge, his is that Mayweather defensive game. Give it up for, Avoiding Temptation!!
Round 1, Begin!
The first punchline? Self control is a final resort, a backs against the wall, nowhere to run, worst case scenario. Notice that it is the control of "self". Meaning that it is employed in situations where your self wants to get or do something you know wouldn't be good for you . Self control is putting up a fight against the flesh, but riddle me this. Why'd you pick a fight in the first place? What were you doing in that compromising situation? If you're a repentant alcoholic, common sense says you shouldn't hang around the bar.
Yes I know you're a new creature, sin has no power over you, yadda yadda and self control is a fruit of the Spirit, but so is peace, does that mean you should run head first into every chaotic potentially disturbing circumstance that life may offer up? No.
Round 2, Begin!!
Ladies and gents, it's a knockout, you know you can't slapbox with the word of God. Give it up for the new champion, Avoiding Temptation!
Okay, so maybe it didn't actually go down like that, but like I said, I'm no boxing buff, I do know that Mayweather won even though Pacquiao threw more punches. Wisdom is profitable to advise.
